What is a ReStore?

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a non-profit retail home renovation centre that accepts quality new and used building, home renovation and home décor products. These items are sold in our 10,000 square foot ware house to the public.

Sales generate funds to support Habitat's home building programs, while reducing the amount of useable materials that are headed for overflowing landfills!

ReStores are an environmentally friendly store that makes sense!

Helping the Environment Everyday

The Habitat for Humanity NCR ReStore diverts over 400 tonnes of waste from our local landfills each year.

The ReStore sorts and recycles all cardboard and unusable metal such as bent pipe and rusty hardware that comes in on otherwise good resalable product.

Habitat NCR also recycles aluminum to raise funds to build homes.

• How Does It Work?

It has never been easier to be a Habitat donor! Habitat NCR takes donations of empty pop and beer CANS from members of the community including individual people, schools, office buildings, hotels and restaurants. At about 2 cents per CAN and 33 CANS per pound, Habitat NCR recycles the aluminum and raises approximately $10,000 per year!

 

• How CAN You Help?

Talk to your family, friends, students and coworkers about their CAN recycling and suggest bringing empty pop and beer CANS to one of the Habitat ReStores! Get aAsk for a special CAN box to keep in your office place and organize a pick-up schedule or drop them off when it is convenient for you. Have your school or community group hold a challenge, with a prize for the winner!
